The Social Security Claims Process

All claims for Socials Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income benefits begin with the filing of an application, either online or at the local Social Security Administration office. You will then be required to fill out various forms detailing your medical conditions, treatment, work history and description of daily activities. Medical records concerning your medical condition will need to be provided by you or requested by the Social Security Administration.  As stated above, the majority of disability claims are initially denied.  If that happens, the next step is to appeal that Denial (referred to as a Request for Reconsideration).
